The exhibition industry is often viewed through a business-to-business lens, but some of Australia’s most successful and widely recognised events are created directly for consumers.
At their best, consumer events bring together businesses of every size with a highly engaged audience united by a particular interest or passion. They allow visitors to discover new products, meet the people behind them, ask questions, compare offerings and buy with greater confidence. For exhibitors, they provide something difficult to replicate through conventional retail or digital marketing: concentrated, face-to-face access to prospective customers who have chosen to be there.

That combination will be on display when UnWined Subiaco returns to Market Square Park on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October.
Presented by CMS Events, the festival will bring together more than 50 Western Australian wineries and over 300 wines, alongside boutique breweries, distilleries and gourmet food businesses.
It is a strong example of how a consumer event can turn shared interests into meaningful commercial opportunities. Visitors can taste products, speak directly with producers, discover labels they may not encounter elsewhere and purchase their favourites to enjoy at the event or take home.
For participating businesses, particularly smaller and emerging producers, the benefits extend beyond sales made during the weekend. Personal conversations allow exhibitors to explain their products, communicate their provenance and build the familiarity and trust that can lead to longer-term customer relationships.
The format also removes practical barriers to purchasing. A complimentary Wine Locker will allow visitors to store purchases while continuing to explore the festival, while Australia Post, the event’s official Wine Packaging and Freight Partner, will provide affordable options for sending six or 12-bottle packs home.

For visitors, however, UnWined Subiaco is designed to be much more than a tasting and buying opportunity.
The event will feature more than 70 stalls, seven food vendors and live performances from local musicians at the Music Gazebo. Guests can settle in with friends, enjoy food ranging from woodfired pizza to Asian and Greek flavours, and experience a relaxed celebration of Western Australian produce.
Those looking for a more curated experience can book a Perth Is OK! Barrel Session, featuring guided wine or cocktail tastings with local producers. The Mercedes Benz Park Lounge will offer an elevated experience with an exclusive bar, gourmet catering, premium seating, a garden courtyard and private amenities.
Three sessions will be held across the weekend: two on Saturday and one on Sunday. General admission tickets include a Plumm tasting glass, complimentary wine tastings, live music and access to the participating wineries, breweries, distilleries and food businesses. Children under 18 can attend free when accompanied by a guardian.
UnWined Subiaco demonstrates why well-targeted consumer events remain valuable platforms for both businesses and the public. They combine discovery, entertainment and social connection with the ability to sample, discuss and purchase products in one place.
For Western Australian producers and the people who enjoy their work, the event promises a weekend of wine, food and good company, and a compelling demonstration of what consumer exhibitions can achieve.
