The Franchising Expo and Start Your Own Business Expo have just wrapped up at ICC Sydney with outstanding results – showcasing 100 exhibitors and attracting 3,121 visitors which is the highest attendance in ten years.
The franchising section featured many of Australia’s most recognised brands including The Coffee Club, Domino’s Pizza, Aramex, Red Rooster, Baskin Robbins, Sushi Sushi, VIP Home Services and Price Attack. There were also a wave of emerging franchise concepts offering early entry opportunities for aspiring business owners.
In the Start Your Own Business section, visitors connected with a wide range of professional services essential for launching or growing a business.
These included marketers, lawyers, business brokers, uniform suppliers, banks, trainers and staffing agencies. They also attended a series of free seminars and workshops.

A major highlight was the presence of government agencies providing free advice on training, compliance and support programs. They included the Australian Tax Office, Australian Financial Security Authority, ACCC, ASBFEO and the NSW Small Business Commissioner. They reported steady queues of visitors seeking guidance.
“The surge in interest from people wanting to work for themselves is remarkable. Some want to launch their own concept while others are keen to buy an existing concept. I think we are moving into a new era – post covid and the introduction of AI – where people are thinking beyond the corporate life and wanting to take some control”.

Exhibitors also reported exceptional results.
James Hucker from CouriersPlease said “this was one of the best shows we have done. We literally signed up three new operators, which is a fabulous result for them and the brand”.
Jason Li from CommBank said “it was a unique chance to talk to people at the start of their business journey”.
With Sydney now complete the show moves to Melbourne, where it runs from 1-2 August at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Organisers say it will even be bigger with more exhibitors, free seminars and visitors. Registration is now open.
